Dog Training

Our private dog training sessions are designed to help you and your dog build a strong foundation together. Each session is $60 and starts at our facility, where we focus on essential training skills. As progress is made, we move to a public setting to prepare you and your dog for handling common distractions. Dog training appointments are available on Thursdays only.

Environmental Work For Shy Dogs

What is Environmental Work?

At Kennels of St. Francis, we understand that some dogs may be developmentally delayed or timid, making traditional board and train programs less effective. These dogs require specialized care to build confidence and overcome fear in a safe, supportive environment.

Our pet boarding program offers a unique opportunity for shy dogs to experience the world outside their home. Through exposure to public parks, pet-friendly businesses, and walks in busy areas, your dog will gain the experiences necessary to grow and become more comfortable around different people, environments, and situations.

Our approach combines dog training with confidence-building techniques. We use real-world scenarios to help dogs overcome their fears—whether it's learning to trust people of all kinds or becoming more comfortable around everyday objects like umbrellas, strollers, or hats.

What to Expect:

Exposure to various environments: Parks, pet-friendly businesses, and busy retail areas.

Confidence-building exercises: Using agility equipment and structured experiences to help dogs face their insecurities.

Basic obedience skills: Dogs learn basic commands like "sit," "down," and improved leash walking, but the focus is on building confidence first.

Program Details:

Cost: $600 per week (1-week minimum, add’l weeks available)

The first week focuses on setting a solid foundation, after which owners are encouraged to continue the work at home to strengthen the bond with their dog.

This program is designed to help your shy dog become more confident and comfortable in the world, setting them up for success in all areas of life.
